Zack Snyder, known for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and the Rebel Moon series, will be working on a new film (title undecided) about the LAPD for Netflix. The Hollywood Reporter reports. The plot is unknown, but it will be about an elite LAPD unit facing a clash of law and morality in a dangerous world where life and death are at stake. This is Snyder's first "realistic" action film, and it is reportedly "dramatic, theme-driven, and action-packed" without any sci-fi or fantasy elements.

Snyder will serve as director, writer, and producer, and the co-writer will be Kurt Johnstad, with whom he also worked on 300 (2006) and the Rebel Moon series. The producers include his wife Deborah Snyder and Wesley Coller. The project is in its early stages, and no other cast or staff members have been announced. This project was a project that Dan Lin, who oversees Netflix's film division, had been working on with Snyder since before he took up his current position.

At the production announcement, Snyder commented, "A few years ago, Dan and I talked about wanting to tell a story that was urgent and visceral, character-driven, and set in the intense, complex, and fascinating world of the LAPD. That's something that's always stayed in my mind." In addition to the two-part "REBEL MOON" series and their respective director's cuts, Snyder's previous collaborations with Netflix include "Army of the Dead" (2021), "Army of Thieves" (2021), and the animated series "Twilight of the Gods" (2024).
