The first look of "IT: Welcome to Derry", a prequel drama to the "IT" series, which is a film adaptation of Stephen King's masterpiece horror novel, has been released in the US. According to Entertainment Weekly, the main timeline of this work is 1962, that is, 27 years before the first film, "IT: Chapter Two" (2017). Speaking of 1962, it is the year of the arson murder at the Black Spot by white supremacists and the episode in which "It" appeared in the form of a giant bird, as told by Mike Hanlon's father Will in the second film, "IT: Chapter Two" (2019). This work will depict a story based on the past of Derry, which Mike investigated.
Andy Muschietti, who worked on the two films and is also the executive producer and director of this one, and Barbara Muschietti, who is also the executive producer, have revealed that this prequel will mainly depict the horror of "It" that appears every 27 years, and will often refer to past events. At the center of these is the incident at the Black Sake Bar depicted in the film. The cast includes Bill Skarsgård, who returns as Pennywise, as well as Taylor Paige from Ma Rainey's Black Bottom (2020), Jovan Adepo from Babylon (2022), Madeleine Storr from 12 Monkeys (1995), Chris Chalk from Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), and James Remar from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019).

Although the roles of each actor are unknown, the Muschiettis said that "the Hanlon family is involved in the story." In fact, the man played by Adepo wears an Air Force uniform with a "Hanlon" name tag and is thought to be a young Will Hanlon. It has also been rumored that Page will play Will's second wife, Jessica. The details of the story are shrouded in mystery, but the Muschiettis has announced that "We will delve into the origins of Pennywise, but just like the original, there will be plenty of mystery." Let's hope for a series full of horror, mystery, and surprises.
"We really love the book and felt there was still so much more to tell. It's a rich story with so many characters and events, so we thought returning to this world would allow us to be true to the book and to the fans. [...] This series focuses on familiar themes from the film, such as friendship, loss, and the power of uniting beliefs, as well as the modern theme of using fear as a weapon." The showrunners are Jason Fuchs, who produced the second IT series and played Richie's manager, and Andy and Barbara Muschietti. Andy will also direct four of the nine episodes. Executive producers include Andy and Barbara, Fuchs, Bill Skarsgård, Dan Lin, and Roy Lee, who produced the film series.
The drama "IT: Welcome to Delhi" is scheduled to be distributed on Max in the United States in 2025.
