Disney Pixar fans gather... Today we discover the teaser trailer, and the official synopsis of Elio, the new animated film expected in June 2025. The subtitle reads: "They asked for our leader. They got... him". A rather mysterious, ambiguous but undoubtedly promising phrase that introduces a new small, unusual, and unpredictable hero to be discovered. After the unstoppable series of successes, small and large masterpieces strung together by Pixar, first in the 90s as part of Lucas Film, then since 2006 as an integral part of The Walt Disney Company, we can only expect a worthy heir to Inside Out (2015) and Inside Out 2 (2024), Red (2022), Luca (2021), Soul (2020)… and so on in this fantastic filmography, composed practically only of cult movies, starting from the revolutionary debut of the Californian production company in 1995 with Toy Story – John Lasseter's World of Toys. But without further ado, here is the plot of Elio:

What if it's what you're looking for… that finds you first? In the comic misadventure of the new Pixar Animation Studios film, our alien-obsessed Elio discovers the answer to that question when he is transported to the Comuniverso: an interplanetary paradise that is home to intelligent life from distant galaxies. Mistakenly identified as the leader of Earth, he must form unexpected bonds, overcome a crisis of intergalactic proportions, and make sure he doesn't miss the opportunity to live out his greatest dream.

This is the official teaser trailer:

The original version of the animated film includes the voices of Yonas Kibreab as Elio, Zoe Saldaña as Aunt Olga, Remy Edgerly as Gordon, Brad Garrett as Lord Grigon, Jameela Jamil as Ambassador Questa, and Shirley Henderson as the character called OOOOO. The film is directed by Madeline Sharafian (already director of La Tana, a short film from the Sparkshort project) with Domee Shi (author of the short film Bao and the wonderful feature film Red, which we always recommend you watch or rewatch in streaming on Disney+) and Adrian Molina (in 2017 co-writer and co-director of the legendary Coco). And to this explosive trio of directorial talents, Mary Alice Drumm (already associate producer of Coco) is added in the role of producer.
