The new statement from the co-creator of the series Christian Linke anticipates the future of the franchise after the explosive finale. Arcane fans will have to rest easy: the story of sisters Vi and Jinx, as well as the mirror cities of Piltover and Zaun, officially ends here. But, even if there is no third season planned, not all is lost: as previously confirmed by co-creator Christian Linke, Arcane will only be the first piece of numerous stories set in Runeterra. And now Linke has also officially confirmed what they will be about. It seems that the theory circulating among fans online in recent days was correct.
Speaking with streamer Necrit94, the author revealed a preview of some interesting "spoilers" about the future of the franchise, confirming that three new animated series inspired by League of Legends are in the works, which will be set in Noxus, Ionia, and Demacia. It has not been clarified which of the three regions will be given precedence, but according to Linke the first of the three series has been in production for a year, and therefore we could see it no earlier than 2026. Considering what happened in the second season of Arcane, and given that Linke has anticipated that in the next series, we will find some of the characters encountered so far, it is easy to hope that the next setting could be Noxus.
In fact, Mel and her mother Ambessa come from this region, which is connected to the story of the alchemist Singed. In the last episode, a clue was left that alludes to the arrival of Jericho Swain, leader of Noxus and a key figure in the conflict with Ionia. The new series, therefore, could try to replicate the dichotomy between Piltover and Zaun by telling us about the war between the two new regions, which was already partially anticipated through the storylines of Mel and Ambessa.
The latter, in fact, is a powerful warlord at the head of one of the most important and respected houses of Noxus, at war with the islands of Ionia, scattered in the great archipelago of the Old Lands. The Ionians, a generally peaceful people, thus live in a precarious peace: on one side the pacifists, who would like to return to the isolation of the past, on the other the radicals, who instead push for militarization and revenge against Noxus.
