Filming has just wrapped on Project Hail Mary, the sci-fi film starring Ryan Gosling. The announcement of the end of filming from the set came from co-director Chris Miller directly from his social media channels. The co-director, who can boast important successes in terms of screenplay and production together with Phil Lord (he is obviously the co-director), will bring the film to the cinema taking inspiration from the novel of the same name written by Andy Weir. The screenplay was adapted by Drew Goddard (Cloverfield).

Filming for Project Hail Mary began in the United Kingdom at the end of May, and lasted five months. The release is expected on March 20, 2026, with Amazon MGM Studios busy in the production booth. Among the currently known cast members are Ryan Gosling, Sandra Hüller, Milana Vayntrub, James Wright, Bastian Antonio Fuentes, and Isla McRae. According to the description provided by Amazon, the film will tell the story of astronaut Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling), the sole survivor of a space mission to save the Earth from astrophages, mysterious organisms that feed on solar energy.

In this regard, we offer you the official synopsis collected directly from the novel by Andy Weir: “Ryland Grace is traveling aboard the Hail Mary, a tiny spaceship launched into the depths of space, the sole survivor of a desperate mission to save humanity. If he fails, the mysterious organisms that feed on solar energy, the astrophages, will lead the Earth into a new ice age, making it uninhabitable. He has very little time to neutralize the enemy and the fate of the species depends solely on him. Or maybe he is not alone?”
