There is news regarding the two franchises that feature two of the most fearsome alien races that science fiction has ever produced, we are talking about Alien, the ravenous xenomorph, and the Predator, one of the most ferocious hunters in the Universe. These two terrible extraterrestrials have recently reappeared on the small and big screen, giving new life to two franchises now considered tired. In fact, we saw the Predator again in 2022 in the film Prey, which we streamed on Disney+, while the xenomorph gave its best at the cinema, in the more recent Alien: Romulus.
Both films were critically acclaimed and highly appreciated by the public, so it should not be surprising to know that 20th Century Studios, owned by Disney, could think about making new chapters. We already knew that Badlands was in the works, but it looks like there’s another Predator movie in the works that’s likely destined for streaming only. This is what Steve Asbell, the head of 20th Century Studios, had to say: “There’s a second Predator movie that we have different plans for. Dan [Trachtenbergin] actually directed both of them. There’s a secret Predator movie that’s coming out before the theatrical one, but I can’t say anything about that right now.”
Regarding the Alien franchise, Asbell himself said:
“We’re working on an idea for a sequel. We haven’t finalized our deal with Fede [Alvarez] yet, but we will, and he has an idea that we’re working on. The two survivors, Rain and Andy, played by Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson, were real highlights of the movie. And so I’m always thinking about, ‘Wow, where do people want to see them go next?’ We know there’s going to be Aliens. We know there’s going to be some big horror scenes. But I fell in love with both of them and I want to see what their story is.”
As for a crossover between the two Sagas, the head of 20th Century Studios said that “probably sooner or later” we’ll see a new Alien Vs. Predator movie.
