Details of the diving accident that hospitalized Zac Efron in Ibiza have finally been released. The actor, who became a teen star in the 2000s with the High School Musical films and had his most acclaimed performance in the past with Iron Claw, allegedly hit the bottom of a swimming pool and swallowed water.

As reported by TMZ, the water filled his lungs after his chest hit the floor of the pool when the actor took a dive during his vacation in Ibiza, exhaling at the moment of impact. He appeared uncomfortable and was removed from the water by the security of the place. Efron was reportedly momentarily confused and was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. There, an x-ray confirmed that there was no more water in his lungs and he was released by the doctor within a few hours.

According to TMZ, Efron had to stay in the hospital for a few hours because paparazzi were waiting outside. Since the accident, Efron has posted a photo of himself working out and thanking everyone for their care, assuring that he is "happy and healthy." According to sources close to the actor, he returned to his normal routine after returning from the hospital. So, it all seems to have been nothing more than a scare. Zac Efron burst onto the Hollywood scene in 2004 when he starred in the first High School Musical alongside Vanessa Hudgens.

The Disney Channel musical became a global phenomenon that spawned a trilogy, in addition to being reimagined as a series on Disney+ and even getting a Brazilian version. After the success of Disney, Efron struggled to get his career off the ground but has found recent success in things like Baywatch and Iron Claw, an A24 film that put him in the running for an Oscar nomination and has what is unanimously considered his best performance. This year, he starred in two streaming hits: All in the Family, alongside Nicole Kidman and Joey King on Netflix, and Ricky Stanicky, a comedy on Prime Video.
