The project will have the same director as Nicolas Cage's The Man Who Lives
Zendaya & Robert Pattinson |
Two of today's biggest young stars are about to reunite for the first time. According to Deadline, A24, the film studio responsible for Past Lives and Hereditary, is in talks with Zendaya (Dune: Part 2, Rivals) and Robert Pattinson (TENET, The Batman) to star in its new film: The Drama. The director of the project will be Kristoffer Borgli, who last year directed and wrote the comedy-drama The Man Who Lives, starring Nicolas Cage as a man who suddenly appears in everyone's dreams, becoming a celebrity overnight. Borgli also wrote the script for The Drama, which will have Ari Aster, director of Hereditary, as producer alongside Lars Knusden and Tyler Campellone.
According to Deadline, the plot of the project is being kept under wraps by A24, but apparently, Zendaya and Pattison would play an engaged couple whose romance story takes an unexpected turn at the worst possible time: right before their wedding. Knowing Borgli, a mix of dark comedy, drama, and surrealism is expected. Both Zendaya and Pattinson have worked with A24 in the past. She is on television, where she stars in the studio's most successful series: Euphoria.
Also produced by HBO, the series has been going through difficulties behind the scenes, including an apparent feud between Zendaya and creator Sam Levinson, but a third season is confirmed and will be filmed in 2025. Pattinson, for his part, is no stranger to A24, having worked with the studio a few times. Perhaps most famously, The Lighthouse, a horror film directed by Robert Eggers in which he and Willem Dafoe play two sailors who work in an isolated lighthouse. At the studio, he also starred in High Life, directed by French director Claire Denis, and The Rover: The Hunt.
There is currently no release date for The Drama.
