Captain Patria rediscovers his past in the fourth episode and Luz-Estrela faces a bombastic revelation from Espoleta

The Boys reaches the halfway point of its fourth season in just two weeks since season four returned. It seems strange, but the release of three chapters right away means that we already have the mid-season in the second week. And what an episode! The best so far in this new year. The story divided into three fronts creates agility in the plot. This dynamic only seems to waste time when it focuses on smaller moments such as French's drama in telling Colin that he was the one who killed his family or the not-so-subtle encounter between Kimiko and the woman with the scar on her face.
Among the smaller plots, the most interesting and perhaps most important is that of Wise Mana with Deep and the revelation of what that object with blood was at the end of the third chapter. To "not be her for a day", Sábia has a lobotomy and, for a few hours, she manages to relax, until her brain regenerates and she returns to being the most intelligent person in the world. “Wisdom of the Ages” (or in Portuguese “The Wisdom of the Ages) is one of those episodes that will mark fans and their passion for Antony Starr as the leader of The Seven.
Homeland Captain and the Nightmare of the Past
Following the guidance of the voices and visions he saw in the mirror, at the end of the third episode, Homelander returns to the Vought underground laboratory where he was created and tested. There, he encounters two figures from his past: Frank and Marty. The hero asks for a third person, Barbara, but she is not there at the moment. He carries a cake and asks everyone to come together to eat it. Homeland Captain then calls Frank to play basketball with paper balls and a trash can. The scientist goes, but suspiciously. In the second pitch, the hero says that he learned that game from Frank, while he was trapped in an oven in the laboratory and saw the scientist playing outside.
“My skin didn’t burn, but it hurt a lot,” says Supe. He then orders Frank to enter the oven and if he doesn't obey, his entire family will enter there too. The scientist asks for forgiveness and says he is just doing his job. He enters and the hero turns on the oven, burning the man alive in front of everyone. Homeland Captain observes marks on the wall that show his growth. We can see that, at the age of 16, he was no longer called John and called himself a hero. This shows us how that most powerful being in the world gained the mantle of super at such a young age. It is a satire and a criticism of other heroes who wear masks and assume responsibilities so early, like Superman or Spider-Man, for example.
The second one to be called by him is Marty and there are no games here. The superhero says that the scientist made fun of him and called him Squirt after he caught him masturbating in his cell. Homeland then orders Marty to do the same, in front of everyone, or he will use his laser to rip off the scientist's sexual organ. Marty tries hard but fails. The hero humiliates him, calling him the same nickname and making fun of his skills. When Marty states that he won't make it, the hero launches his laser that goes through the man and makes him fall to the ground bleeding. Barbara then appears and asks Captain Patria to put an end to it. Without blinking, he crushes Marty's head with his foot.
The big revelation about Homeland comes from Barbara. When showing the room where he lived, which he called the Bad Room, she says that he blames them for what happened, but he could have escaped from there if he wanted to. However, Vought psychologists put a need to be loved into his head. That would be a weakness to make him more human and control him. “I’m not human,” he responds, before saying he’s going to show why he called the place the Bad Room. At the end of the episode, we see Barbara locked in a room, full of blood and with all the dead scientists inside. Homeland Captain, covered in blood from the massacre, enters the elevator, smiles, and returns to the surface.
Starlight vs Fuze and Bruton's secret
The other big arc of the episode is with Annie, who goes to Robert Singer to propose an alliance so that he can pass the law against the Supers. She says she can put people on the streets protesting and turn votes for him in the constituency. However, Luz-Estrela did not expect that Mana Sábia's plan against her was already in place and Vought set up a kind of rally called Children's Freedom Fighters in front of her HQ. The event will be presented by Espoleta and the plan is for her to instigate the audience and internet trolls against a “progressive jihad against white and arrogant feminism” by Luz-Estrela.
Bruto, Leitinho, and Francês arrive to help and the former leader of The Boys says he has a plan. He obtains information from the CIA, which shows that Espoleta had a relationship with a 15-year-old boy, while she was 28. On TV, they watch the heroine spilling yet another barrage of fake news and conspiracy theories. She even mentions the presence of Kanye West at the event. Along with Espoleta is Ezequiel, the Supe Christian, who constantly links Luz-Estrela to sin and the devil.
Bruto and Leitinho surround Espoleta as she leaves the dressing room, ordering her to finish the event or they will publish the information on the internet. She pretends that she will accept and clicks publish, saying that she is not afraid. Espoleta returns to the stage and begins a religious show, confessing to Ezequiel and asking forgiveness for his sin with the young man. She says that she is sorry in the name of God and that she has been saved eternally as she has had her sins washed away. Espoleta then goes on to talk about Luz-Estrela and how she blinded a woman in her first act as a heroine.
Without success in the first plan, Bruto hands over the keys to Espoleta's dressing room - which he stole when talking to her - for the Frenchman to search and try to find something. Before the mission, Bruto had passed out in the bathroom due to the illness that has consumed him since taking V. He even asks Leitinho to take care of Ryan when he dies. Frances searches the dressing room but is caught by Ezequiel, who attacks him. Bruto hears and goes after his companion. At the same moment, Espoleta reveals great information about the night: Luz-Estrela had an abortion six months ago. Proving the statement to be true, Annie runs out to attack her enemy and beats her in front of the cameras. Leitinho interrupts her by showing what is happening. Luz-Estrela's brutality against Espoleta goes viral on the internet.
Inside the dressing room, Bruto is attacked by Ezequiel, who hangs him with his elastic arm. He starts to choke and sees Becca asking him to get up. Bruto goes out and we hear a scream. When he wakes up, he is covered in blood and sees pieces of Ezekiel scattered around the trailer. Leitinho and Luz-Estrela appear and ask what happened. He says he doesn't know and tells everyone to get out of there quickly. When they return, Colin takes care of Frances, but he tells him to stay away and tells him that he is responsible for killing his lover's family. Colin beats Frances and leaves.
Hughie, Compound V, and Bullet Train
At the hospital, Hughie's mother decides that she will ask them to turn off the life support that is keeping her ex-husband alive, as there are no signs of recovery. Hughie teams up with Kimiko to get Compound V and save him. Trem-Bala appears, thinking he will meet Leitinho, and Hughie asks him to help him since the guilt of everything bad that is happening to him started when the hero killed his girlfriend. Still under pressure from his family and unhappy with the direction his life as a hero has taken, Trem-Bala decides to help, as long as Hughie forgives him.
The hero runs to Vought, enters Homelander's room, and finds a drawer full of V. As he takes the vial, Ashley appears, coming from the direction of the hero's bedroom bathroom, where she left a souvenir for the leader of the Homelanders. Seven. The two then enter into an agreement not to say anything, as Homeland would kill them both if he knew. A group attacks Kimiko and Hughie. After he - once again - gets hurt and she helps him fight, the super comes face to face with the woman with a scar on her face who she fought previously. She says that the scar is Kimiko's fault and that in the past, she took her to the Luminous Army ring.
Hughie meets Bullet Train in an alley and Super delivers Compound V. The two shake hands and Hughie forgives him. As the hero runs away, Bruto appears from the shadows calling Hughie a traitor. He talks about his father's situation and the former leader of The Boys says that it won't be good for his father. Hughie asks how Bruto knows this and he tells him that he stole the V that Frances has been saving for the last few months, but the situation only got worse.
At the hospital, Hughie puts the V in his jacket pocket and gives up on the idea. His mother looks at him suspiciously and says that his father could die at any moment. He leaves the room to get some air when he starts crying. When he returns, Hughie doesn't notice, but the coat is no longer where he left it and the IV line, in his father's hand, is filled with blue liquid. Daphne injected her husband with V and he comes back to life!
